Do you want to learn more about the Bible and our Christian traditions and history?  Do you want to discuss and deepen your Christian faith and perhaps let that faith inspire you in your everyday life?

Operating under the auspices of The University of the South (Sewanee) Education for Ministry enables each of us to discover and exercise our God-given gifts for ministry in everyday life.  Through study, prayer, fellowship and theological reflection, EfM provides a framework for us to examine and deepen our Christian faith.

EfM employs a systematic way of discussing and exploring how God is present in all aspects of our lives.  This process helps us develop a stronger faith to better understand our relationship with God. It helps us understand how conditions in the world intersect with our human and spiritual natures.  As an added bonus, many friendships made in an EfM seminar remain in place long afterward.  EfM is not preparation for the priesthood.  There are no prerequisites and there are no exams.

An EfM seminar with six to twelve members and a trained mentor meets weekly for three hours January through May, breaks for the Summer then reconvenes September through mid-December.   The All Saints group meets on Monday evenings from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.   A new class will begin on January 6th 2025. The seminar meets at the Parish House on the All Saints campus.

While the full curriculum takes longer to complete, participants are asked to commit to only one year at a time.  The first year focuses on the Old Testament and all the members of the seminar participate in Theological Reflection together.  Upon completion participants will receive a diploma from The University of the South.  There is a tuition fee and some financial aid may be available.

If you are interested in learning more about EfM or wish to enroll please speak to Frank Asterita, either in person at the 10:30 service on most Sundays or by email. You can reach Frank at frankdon724@att.net.  You could also speak to current or past participants in the program as well as visit the Sewanee EfM website at http://efm.sewanee.edu for more information.
