Thoughts from Fr. Hugh

On Saturday, April 9th we were blessed to be part of Donna Dambrot ‘s

bat mitzvah at Temple Israel in Miami.

A number of us from All Saints attended. We were welcomed generously by the people of the Temple and the ceremony was moving and beautiful.

In a conversation with Rabbi Tom Heyn, I shared with him that I was certain that Donna and Lisa would bring as many blessings to them as they had shared with us here at All Saints.

In the congregation of about 100, Donna’s mother was with us. It, in many ways was truly a family affair. And the lunch that followed was definitely a celebration.

Both Cynthia Cone and I were honored to be asked to read as part of the ceremony.

I want to share my reading with you:

Love your neighbor as yourself, You said.

And light-blinded we saw

That inner and outer worlds are one

As You are One.

You spoke and we wrote.

We reached for you for centuries,

Your light moving before us

As we climbed, fell back and climbed again

Your Sinai of life.

Donna, Shalom and God speed,
