Hello everyone!

The wardens and vestry of All Saints Episcopal Church are very pleased to announce that they have unanimously accepted the recommendation of the All Saints search committee to call the Rev. Michael Engfer as our next rector.

Father Michael has served as a priest for 10 years and led two growing and vibrant Episcopal churches. He is currently serving as the Priest in Charge at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Boulder City, Nevada and was previously the Rector of All Saints Episcopal Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. Father Michael is a decorated Air Force Chaplain, has served as the Wing Chaplain at two Air Force bases, and was deployed to Germany, Qatar, and Afghanistan and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served three years on Active Duty and 14 years in the Air Force Reserve.

Father Michael has a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Pastoral Studies. He has a Master’s degree in Ministry, a Master’s degree in Divinity, and a Master’s degree related to military leadership. He has also finished the coursework for a Doctorate of Ministry in Liturgy and is finishing a Doctorate of Education in Leadership at Spalding University.

Father Michael’s passion for Church ministry and ecumenism has led him to serve at non-denominational, Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, and Episcopal Churches. Father Michael recognizes the strengths and values of many churches and religions but has found his final home in the Episcopal Church. After an intentional spiritual journey, he found the Episcopal Church and the Anglican ethos to be what he was searching for spiritually, doctrinally, and missionally.

Father Michael and his wife, Kate, have four children: Hannah, Rachel, Sarah, and Elijah. They also have three grandchildren. Kate has served in hospitality and as a high school and middle school teacher. They love to exercise, dance, travel, cook, and spend time with family. Michael grew up in rural western Washington State, south of Seattle, and Kate grew up in rural western Michigan. They love Florida and have known for many years they would one day work, minister, play, and eventually retire here.

Father Michael and Kate bring a deep love for people, compassion and activism for the marginalized, and devotion to God through worship and service. They both look forward to serving with us at All Saints.

The vestry is very thankful to the Rector Search Team, (Rick Vaughan, Heather Glenn, Lisa Dye, Maggie Keppler, Paul Odom, Mark Olson and Tony Catka) for all they’ve done over the past year and a half. Going forward, the members of the search committee have graciously offered, and we have accepted, that they will now be taking on a new role as a “Transition Support Team,” providing support to Father Michael and Kate during the first year of their ministry with us.

We are also very thankful to Bishop Eaton, Canon Montgomery, and everyone in the diocesan office for their guidance and support to us during this search process. We were also blessed to have Bishop Rickel, Fathers Carl, Clark, and Joseph’s support during this transition.

We look forward to Father Michael’s institution at All Saints on the evening of June 21, 2026, at a time to be announced. We will keep everyone informed as we have more information. I know that all of us will warmly welcome both Father Michael and Kate as new members of our All Saints family.

With Father Michael’s arrival, we must also announce that Bishop Greg will be leaving us. Bishop Greg’s last day with us will be at the morning services on June 21, 2026, and we will honor both him and Marti at a coffee hour following the 10:30 service on that day. We are so thankful for all that he and Marti have done for us at All Saints during our transition period. More information forthcoming.

A reminder that we celebrate Pentecost this Sunday, May 24, 2026. Please remember to wear red when you come to church. Wearing red on Pentecost symbolizes the “tongues of fire” that descended upon the Apostles, as described in the Bible (Acts 2:3). It serves as a visual reminder of the Holy Spirit’s presence, the birth of the Church, and the fiery zeal of the faith. It represents the purifying, energizing, and emboldening presence of the Holy Spirit that empowered the disciples to speak in different languages and boldly share the Gospel.

In keeping with the spirit’s presence of boldly sharing the gospel in different languages on that first day, we plan to “surround” the congregation by standing on both sides of the aisle simultaneously reading the gospel in several languages. While the priest proclaims the gospel in English, we have readers who have volunteered to read in French, Portuguese, Polish, Spanish, and Hawaiian! Please consider joining us that day if you are interested in reading. Contact me as soon as possible so that I can get you the gospel reading for that day in the language you prefer. You can reach me at srwarden@allsaintsfl.org, or (774) 239-1668. We also invite anyone who wishes to say the “Our Father” in the language of their choice that day while remaining in the pews. Please also let me know if you need the translation ASAP.

Please feel free to reach out to me should you have any questions.

In gratitude,

Rich Markiewicz, Senior Warden

Let us all hold Father Michael and Kate in prayer as they begin their transition to All Saints Episcopal Church.

Holy One, we acknowledge with gracious thanksgiving the guidance of the Holy Spirit in discerning your will through the All Saints rector search process. We are grateful for your sending to us the Rev. Michael Engfer, a priest who will bring love and energy to the leadership and ministry of our parish.

We pray for Father Michael, for Kate, and their family as they prepare for the transition to Fort Lauderdale. We give thanks for the work of the search committee and all those who were involved in our search. We pray for our parishioners as they welcome our new rector.

In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen.
